About This Trip
Including both the old and new golden routes, this 2-week Japan cherry blossom tour (from late March to mid-April) will take you to the top sakura viewing places from Tokyo to Takayama, from Kanazawa to Kyoto, as well as the iconic Mt. Fuji area, to capture the classic spring scenery of Japan.
Travel from the vibrant streets of Tokyo to the breathtaking views of Mount Fuji, and continue into the Japanese Alps for a more tranquil side of sakura season in Takayama and the UNESCO-listed village of Shirakawa-go. Continues through Kanazawa and Kyoto for their traditional streets and vibrant local culture at a more flexible and comfortable pace.

Itinerary
Upon arrival in Tokyo, meet your private driver at the airport and take a comfortable transfer to your hotel for check-in.
- Tokyo
Begin your cherry blossom viewing in Tokyo with your private guide by public transport. Start the day with a visit to Shinjuku Gyoen National Park, a Japanese and French-style garden, for your up close angle to capture those pink blossoms. Continue to explore the ancient, but also lively Senso-ji, with incense-filled halls and traditional streets to capture vivid local life and Japan's spiritual heritage.
Then follow the cherry blossom-line path to the nearby Sumida Park, also a good spot to capture the soaring Tokyo Skytree framed by the fancy sakura. Extend your stroll here if you prepare for the festival atmosphere with street food stalls and picnic crowds, or round off the day with a relaxing cruise along the Sumida River, enjoying picturesque cherry blossom scenery lining both riverbanks.

Take advantage of Tokyo's convenient public transport with your guide and head to Meiji Shrine as your first stop today. Walk through those towering trees that create a calm escape from Tokyo's bustling atmosphere. Next, continue your Tokyo Hanami trip like locals: head to Shiba Park for a relaxing spring picnic beneath the cherry blossoms, right against the Tokyo Tower as your perfect Instagram backdrop.
In the afternoon, step into the immersive digital art world of TeamLab Borderless, experience one of Tokyo's most unique contemporary art spaces with interactive light installations, floating visuals, and ever-changing spaces.
Note: The cherry blossom picnic is highly weather-dependent and may not be possible in case of rain or unfavorable conditions. If the weather permits, your guide will assist you in purchasing picnic items on the day, with expenses to be paid directly on site by yourself.

Today, travel in comfort with your private guide and driver from Tokyo to Lake Kawaguchi and the majestic Mount Fuji.
Begin at Arakurayama Sengen Park, home to the iconic five-story pagoda, for your short hike. Find the perfect angle frame for both the snow-capped Mount Fuji and the red and green pagoda, as well as those blooming cherry blossoms in the background.
Afterward, take a scenic cruise on Lake Kawaguchiko. With the gentle breeze and falling petals, capture Mt. Fuji and its reflections at your leisure pace.
Before heading to your onsen hotel in Hakone, visit Oishi Park, another spot to see the spring colors with Mt. Fuji, for a stroll among those seasonal flowers against the lake and mountains.

Enjoy a self-guided day of Hakone exploration at your own pace. The following itinerary with the Hakone Free Pass is for your reference:
Start your day by taking the Hakone Tozan Railway up to Hakone-Yumoto, where you can find blooming sakura along Yumoto Bridge. Continue by bus to Hakone-machi Port and visit Hakone Park for its classic mountains and lake views.
After the Lake Ashi cruise from Motohakone to Togendai for some of the best lakeside cherry blossom scenery, take the ropeway to Owakudani to see volcanic landscapes. Try the famous black eggs if you wish. Descend via ropeway and cable car to Gora, and visit Gora Park, another hanami spot where cherry blossoms bloom throughout spring.

With an easy guide and map on hand, make your way to Odawara Station (Hakone), from where you'll board the Shinkansen to Nagoya Station (about 1.5 hours), and then change to a Limited Express Train to Takayama Station (about 2.5 hours).
Upon arrival, head to the hotel by yourself and have the rest of the day at leisure.

Your guide will lead you around Takayama by public transportation today. Begin at the lively Takayama Morning Markets to experience part of the daily life of locals. Fresh green vegetables, homemade pickles, and dried foods are the main products for sale, as well as snacks and handmade crafts to try for your interest.
Continue with a short stop at Nakabashi Bridge, a striking red bridge against the surrounding cherry blossoms, which creates one of Takayama's most iconic landmarks in spring. Later, visit the impressive Takayama Matsuri Yatai Kaikan, capture those beautifully decorated floats showcasing the craftsmanship and grandeur of the Takayama Festival.
Spend the remainder of the day strolling through the atmospheric old town (Sanmachi Suji district). Passing preserved wooden merchant houses, and dropping by one of the sake breweries, boutiques, and cafés that bring the spirit of old Japan to life.

Meet your private guide and travel by highway bus from Takayama to Shirakawa-go, where you see those fairy-tale-like traditional gassho-zukuri farmhouses set within a peaceful mountain valley.
Step inside the Wada House, the village's largest and best-preserved one, through the living quarters and guest rooms while learning about the lifestyle of the families who once lived here.
Continue to the Shirakawa-go Observation Deck for panoramic views over the village: rows of iconic thatched-roof houses create one of Japan's most picturesque rural landscapes.
After some free time to stroll through the village at your own pace, bid farewell to your guide and independently board the highway bus to Kanazawa. Upon arrival, make your own way to the hotel for check-in and enjoy the remainder of the evening at leisure.

By public transport, start your Kanazawa journey with your private guide at Kenroku-en Garden, one of the best cherry blossom viewing spots, with peaceful ponds and elegant bridges to witness the classic Japanese spring day scenery.
Next to the adjacent Kanazawa Castle, where restored gates, stone walls, and spacious grounds offer insight into the city's feudal history and samurai heritage.
Spend some time exploring Omicho Market, the lively "Kanazawa's kitchen" to feed your stomach with fresh seafood and rice bowls with local specialties. And leave your afternoon for the historic samurai era, Nagamachi district. Take a glimpse into the lifestyle of a former samurai family from its well- preserved Nomura Samurai Residence.

After breakfast, find your way to Kanazawa Station for your Shinkansen to Tsuruga, and then change to a Limited Express Train to Kyoto (totally takes about 3 hours).

Your Kyoto guided tour begins at Fushimi Inari Taisha. Walk through those winding vermilion torii gates with the story behind to the main shrine, and continue to experience a shared traditional tea ceremony in the Gion district. Of course, dress in an elegant kimono and inside the traditional wooden tea house.
In the afternoon, head to Kiyomizu-dera with your guide by public transport. Step on its wooden terrace to capture Kyoto's cityscape, as well as the surrounding hills and temple filled with delicate cherry blossoms in full bloom.

Still with public transport, continue your guided cherry blossom trip in Kyoto at the timeless natural beauty of Arashiyama.
Make the evergreen Arashiyama Bamboo Grove your first station, and follow the towering green stalks' path slowly uphill. Next is the Tenryu-ji Temple, with its delicate Zen Garden, for a stroll by the pond and the harmony of the surrounding cherry blossoms.
Then, cross the Togetsukyo Bridge to admire panoramic views of cherry blossoms lining the riverbanks and hillsides beyond. Conclude the day with a 30-minute traditional Yakatabune houseboat cruise along the river: drift slowly beneath blooming cherry trees as petals fall onto the water's surface, capture the dreamlike scenery closer to Kyoto's delicate springtime.

After breakfast, find your way to the railway station for your train to Osaka. Upon arrival, your local guide will meet you and together visit Osaka Castle Park, whose castle towers and moat are already framed by cherry branches.
Continue to Kema Sakuranomiya Park, a riverside cherry blossom promenade offering a relaxed walking experience and some of the best riverside sakura views in the city. In the afternoon, explore the vibrant Dotonbori district, famous for its neon lights, canal views, and lively street food and nightlife.
