Day 1: Arrival, Zurich - Geneva
Upon your arrival at Zurich airport, retrieve your travel documents at the SBB ticket counter and then head to Geneva by train. A private transfer will take you from the railway station to your hotel. Check-in and take the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 2: Geneva - Montreux, Geneva & Cheese Fondue Tasting
After breakfast in the hotel, enjoy a 2-hour sightseeing tour exploring downtown Geneva on foot. A local tour guide will lead you to stroll through the international neighborhoods of Geneva and point out the main landmarks of this city, such as the beautiful Geneva Water Fountain (Jet d'Eau) and the wonderful Flower Clock. Later, you will step into a typical Swiss restaurant and try a cheese fondue, accompanied by a glass of wine, water, or a carbonated drink.
In the afternoon, check out of your hotel and move on to the central station for your train to Montreux. Seize the chance to admire the impressive scenery along Lake Léman from the train window. On arrival, hotel check-in and rest.
Day 3: Montreux, Cheese and Chocolate Tasting
At around 9:44 am, you will take a panoramic train from Montreux to Montbovon and then hop on public transportation to visit the cheese factory "La Maison du Gruyère". Here you will learn all about the secrets of making the famous Gruyère cheese and have the chance to watch the production process through a glass window. Afterward, continue to visit the medieval town of Gruyères with its well-preserved castle. The last stop will be "Maison Cailler" in Broc that is easy to reach on foot from the rail station of Broc-Fabrique. A sweet adventure awaits you here to lead you through the history of chocolate, discover how to use exquisite cocoa beans and high-quality ingredients to make the finest chocolate creations, and indulge you with a very nice chocolate tasting.
Return to Montreux by train after the tour.
Day 4: Montreux - Interlaken - Lucerne, Travel by Golden Pass Line
The Golden Pass Line is a tourist-orientated train route between Montreux and Lucerne, served by several very special trains. Sitting in your comfortable seat on the train, the spectacular views of the Swiss landscape with numerous lakes and mountains will come into sight. The part from Interlaken to Lucerne is considered by most travelers as the best part of the journey.
Upon arrival, head to your hotel in Lucerne for the night.
Day 5: Lucerne - Chocolatier Aeschbach - Zurich, Departure
This morning you will visit the "World of Chocolate" in the village of Root, which is only 10 minutes by train from the center of Lucerne. This 1.5-hour tour will introduce the secrets of dip-coating and decoration of chocolates to you and in the end, you can prepare your own chocolate bar.
After the tour, proceed to Zurich by train. Your journey comes to an end.
