- Day 1
Upon your arrival, meet your chauffeur guide and be transferred to your hotel in Negombo, a quiet town in the western coastal area of Sri Lanka. Check-in after 20 minutes’ drive and spend the rest of the day at leisure.
- Day 2
Negombo is famous for its fishing industry as well as the home to the country’s second largest fish market. Start a morning exploration to Negombo Fish Market, where you can witness local fishermen disposing the various fishes just taken back from the ocean.
In the afternoon, drive to the historic Anuradhapura, which consists of a good variety of ruins spreading over a large area. Check into your hotel and relax the remaining day at leisure.
- Day 3
Anuradhapura is a UNESCO World Heritage listed city. Today, you will visit the historical sites in the town of Anuradhapura. Head for Mihintale afterward, a mountain peak near Anuradhapura, where you can have a good view for Maha Stupa and Aradhana Gala. Later, drive to Sigiriya.
- Day 4
On this day, have an excursion to Polonnaruwa by car, which is about 2 hours from Sigiriya. As a royal ancient city, Polonnaruwa consists of a lot of temples and religious buildings. Rambling through the city is a pretty good idea to look the city in its heyday. Get back to Sigiriya afterward.
- Day 5
Today, you will get close to the Lion Rock (Sigiriya Rock Fortress). Get an amazing view of the whole rock from a distance before reaching its entrance. On the way climbing up to the top, you can appreciate the famous frescoes of Sigiriya damsels. In addition to the ruined palace and an extensive network of fortifications, you can also spend some time in the surrounding vast gardens, ponds, canals, alleys, and fountains.
In the afternoon, go for a rural tour to the village of Hiriwadunna. Take a jeep or a tuk tuk trip for a glance at Sri Lanka’s countryside. While you enjoy a catamaran sailing on a lake, you may encounter birds, butterflies and villagers fishing or washing clothes at the periphery of the lake.
- Day 6
Pay a visit to the fabulous Dambulla Cave Temple, which is composed of five caves and 157 statues of the Lord Buddha.
This afternoon, drive to Kandy, which is generally recognized as the island nation’s cultural capital. After arrival, see an impressive Kandyan cultural dance and then walk to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. The temple is the most sacred Buddhist shrine in Sri Lanka and houses a tooth of the Buddha.
- Day 7
After breakfast, head for the Royal Botanical Garden in Peradeniya, a suburb of the city of Kandy. The garden is noted for its rich and varied collections of tropical woody plants. It has about 4,000 species of plants.
The afternoon is free for your own exploration. Having a stroll around the Kandy Lake is a good choice.
- Day 8
Depart for the Geragama Tea Estate in the morning. You will learn further about the famous Ceylon tea by an introduction in a tea factory. You are recommended to sip a cup of tea before driving to Colombo. After hotel check-in, the rest of the day can be spent at leisure.
- Day 9
A city highlights tour will take you to the Independence Square, Gangarama Temple of Colombo, the Galle Face Green, the Colombo National Museum and the former British Administrative Center, etc. Stopover for taking pictures is available at any site on your request.
In the afternoon, you will be escorted to the airport for your flight back home.
