Amboseli and Tsavo Wildlife Safari

If you have read the book "The Man-Eaters of Tsavo" or watched the film "The Ghost and the Darkness", you will know Tsavo. This trip will give you a chance to trace the footprints of the man-eaters, from Nairobi to Tsavo adding Amboseli halfway.

On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and after the immigration process and final clearance, meet your driver guide and take a private transfer to your hotel for check-in and rest.

Depart Nairobi and take about 4.5 hours' drive (about 240 km) to Amboseli National Park this morning. The drive will take you through the Nairobi - Mombasa highway, a major connection between Mombasa and all parts of Greater East Africa.

Arrive at the lodge in time for lunch and leisure. In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive in search of wildlife in the dusty plains, and in some swampy ground, you may find hippos lazing around.

Amboseli National Park is most renowned as the best place to picture free-ranging elephants, especially with Mount Kilimanjaro as the backdrop. Besides that, it is also home to hundreds of species of birds and other African wildlife, such as the Cape buffalo, impala, zebra, giraffe, wildebeest and the predators that are waiting to prey on them all the time.

Have a half-day game drive in the morning in search of wildlife. Return to the lodge for lunch and have some leisure time.

Continue with a game drive in the afternoon and climb to the top of Observation Hill for amazing views of Amboseli and Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Move on to Tsavo West National Park today (about 3.5 hours, 160kms). On the way, stop over at a Maasai village where you will learn more about their traditions and livelihood.

In the afternoon, experience a game drive to spot wildlife living inhabiting on the rugged and arid Tsavo West.

Formed by explosive eruptions thousands of years ago, the stunning Lake Challa is fed by underground streams from Mt. Kilimanjaro and changes its colors from deep blue to turquoise with the time of year. Though the locals say that Grogan's crocodiles in the lake have all been killed, not everyone dares to take the risk of swimming in it.

Enjoy a relaxing tour to Lake Challa this morning and a picnic lunch will be served. Late afternoon, have another game drive to search for more animals.

Tsavo West together with Tsavo East comprises the biggest National Park in Kenya. Today, a four-hour drive (about 180 km) will take you to the larger and less accessed Tsavo East for a game drive in search of wildlife living in the more untapped wilderness of arid bush.

Arrive at the lodge early evening, have dinner, and then settle down.

After breakfast at the lodge, depart for Nairobi (about 280 km, 5.5 hours' drive) for your flight departing from JKI airport.
