- Sacred Valley
Today offers two engaging ways to experience the Sacred Valley, depending on your interests and the season.
Option 1 is a classic Inca Trail hike, great for nature lovers and history buffs. Set off early by train to the trailhead, enjoying scenic views en route. After registration, start the hike and explore the ruins of Chachabamba before moving onward to Wiñaywayna nestled amid lush forest. Savor a box lunch, continue to the Sun Gate (Intipunku) for your first, unforgettable view of Machu Picchu, then descend to Aguas Calientes for dinner and a restful night.
Option 2 offers a relaxed biking experience, available throughout the year and especially in February when the Inca Trail closes. Pedal your two-wheeler through the valley, taking in the sweeping vistas, and stopping at a traditional chichería and a local craft brewery to sample corn beer and artisanal brews.
