Arrive in Jakarta, Indonesia's capital and the gateway to one of the world's most diverse ecosystems. From ancient rainforest to remote island, your wildlife tour begins here. Upon arrival, you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel. Take time to rest and get ready for the wild encounters ahead.

  • Jakarta

Before beginning your wildlife adventure, visit Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, a park displaying traditional houses and tribal customs from across Indonesia. Highlights include a detailed replica of Borobudur, the 9th-century Buddhist temple and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then explore the Istiqlal Mosque, Southeast Asia's largest mosque and a symbol of national unity.

Just across the street stands Jakarta Cathedral, a neo-Gothic church known for its stained-glass windows and rich architectural details reflecting Jakarta's diverse heritage.

Take a flight from Jakarta to Pangkalan Bun, Borneo. Once landing, your local guide will meet you and transfer you to Kumai, where you'll board a traditional wooden houseboat called a klotok. The boat's roof doubles as an upper deck, offering stunning views of the rainforest as you glide along the river. Typically, a boatman, cook, and expert guide accompany this type of vessel to assist you throughout the journey.

As you cruise toward Tanjung Puting, keep a close watch for wildlife. Look for proboscis monkeys perched high in the trees and orangutans swinging between branches in search of food.

Spend a special day encountering Borneo's remarkable orangutans in their natural habitat. Travel along the river and watch as they come down from the platforms and swing through the trees to reach their food.

Then head to Camp Leakey, located deep within Tanjung Puting National Park. This well-known research center has played a vital role in the study and conservation of orangutans. Walk around to learn about ongoing scientific efforts.

Camp Leakey is also a place where orangutans are cared for and helped to return to the wild. You'll get another chance to see them come back for their afternoon feed before heading to the local lodge for the night.

If you're up early, you may catch the rainforest slowly coming to life - birds calling, leaves rustling, and the forest waking around you. Weather permitting, there's also a chance to enjoy a sunrise over the treetops before a relaxed breakfast at the lodge, surrounded by the sights and sounds of ancient jungle.

After breakfast, take some time to soak in the peaceful atmosphere before beginning the return journey. Say farewell to your hosts and travel by boat back toward Kumai, passing through the lush riverscapes one last time. On arrival at Kumai Harbor, meet your driver for the transfer to the airport and your flight back to Jakarta. Once there, you will be met and taken to your hotel.

You will take a morning flight to Labuan Bajo, where your local guide will meet you at the airport to start the day's exploration. The first stop is Batu Cermin Cave, also called Mirror Stone Cave. This natural cave is carved inside a rocky hill, known for its walls that sparkle as sunlight filters through a crack in the roof, creating a unique mirror effect.

If Batu Cermin Cave is temporarily closed, you will instead take a short hike to Bukit Sylvia, a scenic hill that offers sweeping views of the sea and surrounding islands. When time and weather permit, catching the sunset from this spot is truly breathtaking.

Later, visit Ujung Fishermen's Village and the harbor to observe the daily routines of local fishermen and experience authentic coastal life.

After the tour, you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in and some well-deserved rest.

This journey offers a close-up look at the diverse species that make Komodo National Park world-renowned.
