No - if you hold a passport from one of the following countries or regions, you do not need a K-ETA to visit South Korea right now: the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Poland, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Belgium, Denmark, Austria, Japan, Taiwan (China), Hong Kong (China), Macao (China), Singapore.

The exemption is currently extended to December 31, 2026, and you can enter South Korea visa-free for stays of up to 90 days with just a valid passport. If you're traveling in 2027 or later, we recommend reconfirming the requirement about one week before departure.

A typical DMZ day tour includes a visit to Imjingak Peace Park, the Third Infiltration Tunnel, and Dora Observatory. The tour is arranged with transportation and a guide, with access to the DMZ area subject to local security and operating conditions. One thing should be noted is that the JSA (also known as Panmunjom) is currently closed to tourists.

A DMZ tour is particularly worthwhile if you're interested in the Korean War, the history of the Korean Peninsula, and the ongoing division between North and South Korea. Skip it if you're hoping for JSA experience, or if border history isn't your thing - Seoul has plenty of other ways to spend the day.

The best time to visit South Korea is generally from mid-April to May (spring) or from late September to October (fall), when the weather is comfortable and the scenery is at its most attractive. Spring offers cherry blossoms and fresh greenery, while fall brings clear skies, mild temperatures, and colorful foliage.

These are also the busiest and most expensive travel periods, especially during peak cherry blossom weeks and around major autumn foliage destinations. For a first visit, 7 - 10 days is a good starting point. This gives you enough time to experience Seoul and add one or two destinations such as Gyeongju, Busan, or Jeju Island without rushing.

If you have two weeks or more, you can explore at a more relaxed pace and venture beyond the major cities to discover deeper of Korea's culture, food, and natural scenery.
