Easter Island, or Rapa Nui, is one of the most distinctive places you should add to a Chile itinerary. Walking through Cerro Alegre and Cerro Concepción is one of the best ways to experience the city's character, while the nearby Casablanca Valley makes it easy to combine Valparaíso with a day of Chilean wine tasting. It is a particularly good addition for travelers who want culture and local atmosphere between outdoor destinations.

Torres del Paine is the highlight for travelers heading to Chilean Patagonia, with scenery that changes constantly between granite peaks, turquoise lakes, glaciers, forests, and open grasslands. The park is best known for the W Trek, but you do not need to spend several days hiking to enjoy the area. Boat excursions, scenic drives, glacier visits, and wildlife watching offer other ways to experience Patagonia, including chances to see guanacos, foxes, and a variety of birdlife. A private trip also makes it easier to combine active days with time to slow down and take in the scenery.
