Udaipur Rated No.3 of the 2018 World's Top 15 Cities

On July 11th, Travel + Leisure magazine announced its annual World's Best Awards. Udaipur won the 3rd place of the 2018 World's Top 15 Cities, and scooped another award, the first place of the Top 10 Cities in Asia for its romantic lakeside landscape.

Readers of Travel + Leisure were invited to rank their favorite urban destinations based on sights and landmarks, culture, cuisine, friendliness, shopping and overall value. Udaipur is the only city at the top of the list ahead of other Indian popular tourist destinations, like Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. Last year, Udaipur ranked 14th of the World's Top 15 Cities.

Known as "the City of Lakes" and "Venice of the East", Udaipur is considered as the most romantic city in India. Long regarded as a must-see in India, it is well-known for its picturesque scenery, magnificent palaces, luxury hotels and unparalleled museums.

The heritage city of Udaipur is built around the Lake Pichola, an artificial fresh water lake built by a gypsy tribesman, dating back to 1362 AD. Initially, this lake was mainly created to supply the need of drinking water and irrigation of Udaipur and its neighboring cities, but has gradually developed into a famous scenic spot over the centuries.

Besides lakes, the palaces are major attractions in this city, such as the Lake Palace and City Palace. Both of them were built during the reign of the Mewar dynasty (734-1952). The Lake Palace made of white marble is located on the island of Jag Niwas in Lake Pichola, and serves as a 5-star hotel now; the City Palace, located on the east bank of Pichola, is a palace complex on top of a hill, providing a panoramic view of the city. And it houses a museum with many rare treasures from royal time.

It's a good chance for travelers to visit the cities above for one time and have a lifetime memory.
